At UXMastery we’re all about helping people get started in UX and part of that is finding the right job or taking the next step in your career. It can be a pretty daunting experience and people usually have lots of questions.

There are so many variables when it comes to landing the perfect job. What will the interview be like? What kinds of questions will you be asked? How do you know which jobs are the right fit for you? Will you be expected to do a code review or work through a design challenge?

Knowing the answers to these kinds of questions ahead of time builds confidence and sets you up to succeed.

We want to help with that, so we’ve found a great UX recruiter who can answer your questions and get you on the right track.

The Details

Meet Michael Boyd

Michael has been working in Melbourne’s Design & Tech space for 8 years and has specialist knowledge of hiring and being hired in the local UX & Design market. He was a panelist in the ‘UX Leadership’ meet-up last August around this very subject and services many of Melbourne’s enterprise and tech / product based teams.

Michael is Principal Consultant of Digital and Development at Greythorn. Follow him on Twitter @MichaelBoyd_23

How to Ask Your Questions

If you can’t make the live session but have questions, we’d love to collect them ahead of time and we’ll ask Michael on your behalf. You can ask them in the comments below. We’ll publish the responses (along with the full transcript) in the days following the session.

Here are a few questions to get you started:

  1. What kinds of questions will I be asked in a job interview?
  2. How can I interpret a job description to make sure I’m applying for a role that’s right for me?
  3. Everyone seems to be looking for someone with experience and I don’t have any. Should I apply anyway?

How does Ask the UXperts work?

These sessions run for approximately an hour and best of all, they don’t cost a cent. We use a dedicated public Slack channel. That means that there is no audio or video, but a full transcript will be posted up on here in the days following the session.
